Welcome to our Autumn 2 page. We hope that you enjoy looking through our work and pictures.
We have had a very busy half term learning all about our topic Explorers. Over the past few weeks we have learnt all about Captain Scott and Sir Ranulph Fiennes and the expeditions they went on. We have really enjoyed looking at their adventures and have learnt lots of information about both of their lives.
In our literacy, drama and history lessons we looked at the journey Captain Scott made to the Arctic and then to the South Pole. We looked in great detail a timeline of his journey and the battles and successes he faced along the way. After learning that he unfortunately missed out on being the first person there we thought about what that would feel like to be Captain Scott at that time and wrote our own diary entries as is we were him. We also created fact files, sequenced his journey and thought about how his expedition was different to Sir Ranulph Fiennes.
Sir Ranulph Fiennes
We have really enjoyed learning all about Sir Ranulph Fiennes and were amazed by all the things he has achieved in his lifetime so far. We were so excited to find out that he is still working to achieve more things and have been looking at his latest challenge. Using all our knowledge of both explorers we used this to create our own non-chronological reports which contained lots of facts and different features that you would find in a non-fiction text. It was a real showcase of everything we have learnt this half term.
